Mission 4: Southern Bowl

Mission 4: Southern Bowl (GCC67) is hidden deep inside Intervales State Park in Brazil, some 200 kilometres from São Paulo. It is one of the fourteen original geocaches of Project A.P.E., created in 2001 in partnership with Fox studios to promote the film Planet of the Apes. What makes it unique is that it is the only cache of that worldwide promotional series to have survived without a single interruption since it was placed. GCC67 is the last survivor of the series along with its North American cousin, Mission 9: Tunnel of Light (GC1169), archived in 2011 and reactivated in 2017.

Beyond its status as an international relic, this is the oldest active geocache in Brazil. The enthusiasm it generates also makes it the Brazilian cache with the most favorite points, the largest number of community photos, and usually the most trackables in the country.

Levinagano, the very first geocacher to find it in 2001, left a recommendation that has become legendary: “We were the first! We arrived late in the afternoon yesterday and had to give up because night was falling. We came back in the morning and after hours of searching in the forest we finally made it. We took out an item used during the filming and left our own gifts in its place. Good luck to the next adventurers! The place is amazing! It is truly worth it!”
