FAQ

🎯 Getting started

What exactly is Geocoins?

A free collecting game inspired by geocaching. Every geocoin pays tribute to a real geocache: its GC code, its type, the person who placed it.

At regular intervals a geocoin is put up for grabs and a question appears. Every connected player answers at the same time, and the fastest win it. Your collection is saved to your account, follows you across devices, and nothing ever expires.

Where should I start?

  • Claim the daily treasure: a free geocoin plus 5 gold coins.
  • Try Training mode: rounds last 1 minute, everyone can win, and the answer is revealed at the end.
  • Watch the countdown at the bottom of the screen: it announces the next geocoin and its rarity.
  • Don’t rush at commons you already own — your daily geocoins are counted.

Is the game really free?

Entirely. Everything collectible is obtained by playing. Support packs exist to fund hosting: they save you time, never unlock content you couldn’t get otherwise.

⏱️ A quiz round

How does a round work?

A countdown announces the next geocoin along with its rarity, so you know whether it’s worth getting ready. At zero the question appears: click Join and type your answer. The expected number of words is shown — that’s a hint.

How are my answers checked?

Leniently: accents, capitals, punctuation and extra spaces are irrelevant — “ile de france” matches “Île-de-France”.

Answers are accepted in English, French, German and Spanish, plus any alternatives the question allows. Spelling itself does matter, though: there is no fuzzy matching.

Can I try again if I’m wrong?

Yes, as often as you like — just not at robot speed. Every second wrong answer triggers a short wait (5 seconds, then 10 beyond six attempts), shown as a countdown. Correct answers never count towards it, and every new question starts from scratch.

What you typed isn’t lost during the wait: it is sent again automatically when the countdown ends.

Why was my answer rejected as “too fast”?

An answer sent less than half a second after the question appeared cannot have been read, so it is discarded. It protects against automated answering, not against fast players.

Can the same geocoin come back immediately?

No. The last 10 geocoins drawn in a rarity are excluded from the following draws. On small rarities the exclusion never covers more than half the pool — otherwise no round could start at all.

Questions work differently: one that has already been asked only returns once the rest of the pool has been used.

A question is wrong or ambiguous — what should I do?

Report it: the report button sits on the question itself. Describe what’s off — often the expected answer is merely incomplete, and adding an accepted variant is enough.

Why am I not playing the same rounds as everyone else?

Because PvP is split into modes, by score. Players who are starting out play an easier mode: its questions are the most approachable in the game, hints tell you where to find the answer, and you only face players from that mode — plus a few bots, so a round is never played alone.

Past the score threshold announced in the game, you join the main mode: all the other players, no bots, and the rarest geocoins. The ⓘ bubble next to the mode name, in the quiz bar, always tells you which one you are in and what opens the next.

👥 How many geocoins are up for grabs

Why are there sometimes several geocoins to win?

The number of geocoins in play follows the number of connected players. From 10 players onwards, 2 identical geocoins are up for grabs instead of one, and the number keeps rising with the crowd.

The pace follows the same rule: the more of you there are, the faster rounds come.

What is the grace window?

In a multi-geocoin round, once the first winner is decided the others get 20 seconds to claim the next one. Every geocoin taken restarts the window. When it runs out — or nothing is left to win — the round closes and the next one is scheduled.

How are “players online” counted?

One connected account = one player, even behind the same internet connection as someone else (household, club, event). Since this number drives both the pace and the number of geocoins handed out, two safeguards prevent it being inflated:

  • an account only counts if it has really played: no bots, no empty accounts, nothing flagged by cheat detection;
  • beyond a few recent accounts behind a single connection, the rest stop counting. Long-standing, well-stocked accounts always count.

💎 Rarities

What are the rarities and how often do they appear?

  • Common — 69.9 % of rounds
  • Rare — 25 %
  • Epic — 5 %
  • Legendary — 0.1 %

Those rates apply to the main mode: Training mode only puts base-game commons in play (no extensions).

What does rarity actually change?

  • Score: 1 for a common, 3 for a rare, 7 for an epic, 20 for a legendary.
  • Melting: 1 for a common, 3 for a rare, 10 for an epic, 100 for a legendary forge points.
  • Forging: 60 for a common, 180 for a rare, 600 for an epic, 1,800 for a legendary points.
  • Glory: 1 for a common, 2 for a rare, 3 for an epic, 10 for a legendary forge points.
  • Weekly caps, the market price floor, and access to the holding vault.
  • Question difficulty: the rarer the geocoin, the harder the question may be.

Is the rarity announced by the countdown guaranteed?

Yes. The exact geocoin is only picked at launch, but the rarity is decided in advance and honoured. A rarity with no available geocoin — all out of season, none published — is removed from the draw rather than announced and quietly swapped.

Why do I almost never see a legendary?

Because they account for 0.1 % of rounds and you may only keep 1 per week. A legendary is an event, not a weekly target.

In exchange, no streak handicap applies to a legendary: the race is fair for everyone, on-fire players included.

📅 Your limits

What are my daily limits?

  • 25 geocoins per day, and at most 12 per hour
  • 3 shinies per day
  • 250 gold coins per day
  • 120 consolation forge points per day

Everything resets at midnight, Paris time.

And the weekly caps?

They stack on top of the daily limits, rarity by rarity: 80 rares, 20 epics and 1 legendary per week. Commons have no weekly cap.

They reset on Monday, Paris time. Reaching a weekly cap opens the door to glory — or to patronage.

How does the hourly limit work exactly?

It’s a rolling one-hour window that starts with your first geocoin, not on the hour. It resets an hour later, and always at midnight so that it never straddles the change of day.

What counts towards those limits?

Geocoins won in the quiz and those claimed from the holding vault.

What doesn’t count: the daily treasure, market purchases, the forge, the off-season market and packs. A geocoin received from a patron leaves your daily limits untouched, but does count towards your weekly cap for that rarity.

Can I raise my limits?

  • Bag slots — +1 geocoin per day each, permanently: 500, then 1,000, then 1,000, then 1,000, then 1,000 gold coins.
  • Shiny bag — +1 shiny per day each: 200, then 500, then 1,000 forge points.
  • Bigger pockets — +5 geocoins per hour until midnight, for 50 gold coins, stackable within the day.

The pocket boost expires at midnight: it widens the hourly window, not the daily total.

🏅 Glory

What does winning “for glory” mean?

You gave the right answer, but the geocoin cannot enter your collection: your daily limit is reached, or the weekly cap for its rarity. Your name is shown among the winners, you collect your rewards, and the geocoin stays in play for the others.

A correct answer is therefore never wasted.

What exactly do I get from glory?

  • Gold: the usual win reward (5 coins), within your 250 coins for the day.
  • Forge points, based on the rarity at stake: 1 for a common, 2 for a rare, 3 for an epic, 10 for a legendary. A shiny geocoin is worth more: 2 for a common, 4 for a rare, 6 for an epic, 20 for a legendary. They count towards the cap of 120 consolation points per day.
  • Your on-fire streak, if your answer is among the first of the round.
  • Progress on your quests and achievements.

Does glory advance an achievement?

Yes, several at once:

  • “For glory” is an evolving geocoin: it appears as a common with your first glory win, then the same geocoin climbs in rarity — rare, epic, then legendary — as you rack them up. Each step replaces the previous variant in your collection, and is worth more points.
  • “King of knowledge”: a glory win is a winning correct answer like any other.
  • “On fire”, if your streak crosses a milestone in that round.

A patron’s gift also counts as a glory win.

Does glory take a geocoin away from other players?

No, and that’s the whole point: you are credited and the geocoin stays available. Only patronage consumes one of the round’s geocoins, because it genuinely gives it to someone.

I won “for glory” even though I had room left. Why?

Most often the weekly cap for that rarity is reached: it is independent of your daily counter. You can have ten geocoins left for today and still be unable to take a single epic this week.

The other case is the hourly limit, which frees up on its own as the rolling window moves.

📦 The holding vault

What is the holding vault?

A left-luggage office. When you win a geocoin you can’t take right now, the game offers to set it aside rather than let it go: you claim it the next day, against fresh quotas.

Which geocoins can I put on hold?

  • Any geocoin you’re missing — whatever its rarity and whatever limit you hit, weekly caps included. Winning the race for the last common missing from your collection shouldn’t come down to a couple of forge points.
  • A geocoin you already own: only if it is epic, legendary or shiny, and only when a daily limit is what blocks it. At the weekly cap, an already-owned geocoin goes to glory or patronage instead.

Does the vault let me bypass the caps?

No. Putting a geocoin on hold only reserves an intention: caps are checked and consumed on claiming, the only moment the geocoin really enters your collection. A geocoin put on hold at the weekly cap therefore waits for Monday, not for tomorrow.

My claim was refused — did I lose the geocoin?

Never. It stays in the vault and the game shows the exact countdown until the relevant cap frees up: midnight for a daily limit, Monday for a weekly cap. The hourly limit is never held against a claim.

How many vault slots, and at what price?

  • Two permanent slots to buy: 1,000, then 5,000 gold coins.
  • A one-off rental at 200 coins: one extra slot, released as soon as you claim the geocoin.
  • A replacement at 50 coins, if you prefer the new geocoin to an older one. The one leaving gives you forge points, based on its rarity: 1 for a common, 2 for a rare, 3 for an epic, 10 for a legendary.

What if I decline, or everything is full?

You get forge points instead, exactly like a glory win: 1 for a common, 2 for a rare, 3 for an epic, 10 for a legendary — a shiny geocoin is worth more: 2 for a common, 4 for a rare, 6 for an epic, 20 for a legendary — within your consolation points for the day. Nothing is ever destroyed behind your back: a full vault, with no explicit choice from you, replaces none of the geocoins already stored.

Does a claimed geocoin count as a real win?

Completely: collection, score, caps, achievements and new-card quests. It is a normal acquisition, simply one day later.

Do I have limited time to choose?

Yes: the choice window is timed, with a countdown. It is not needless hurry — the players on the waiting list are queuing behind you, and the round cannot close before your decision.

At zero, the default decision goes on its own: the vault if a free slot is waiting for you (never a gold spend without a click), and forge points otherwise. Opening “Replace a geocoin” or looking at the vault contents buys you a little more time, once: those steps need a clear head.

I was on the waiting list: what does that mean?

When a winner declines their geocoin or lets it slip away, it does not vanish: it moves down to the players who answered right behind them, in order of arrival. That is the waiting list, shown during the round along with your position.

If the geocoin comes to you and your daily limits allow it, it goes straight into your collection. Otherwise it is reserved for you as a voucher, to be decided before midnight. You are only skipped when it could not have come to you anyway: you already own it and the vault will not take it either.

A geocoin is waiting for me in Treasures: what is it?

It is a vault voucher: a geocoin let go by another player and reserved for you while your daily limits were reached. The “A geocoin is waiting for you” banner takes you to the choice.

You have until midnight, Paris time, to decide: make room for it in the vault (free slot, rental or replacement), or turn it into forge points. With no decision, it becomes a glory win at midnight, with the matching forge points. The voucher is offered even when your vault is empty: the game never fills it for you.

Can I stop being offered the vault for lesser geocoins?

Yes, a checkbox in your preferences does it. With a full vault, the choice window no longer opens for a geocoin whose rarity does not beat the least precious one already stored — its only outcomes were paid ones anyway, or declining.

The geocoin then goes for glory: you get the same forge points as declining, and it stays in play for the other players instead of sitting in a voucher you did not want. Two permanent exceptions: a shiny win is always offered, and a free vault slot cancels the comparison. The box is unticked by default.

🤝 Patronage

What is patronage?

Once you’ve reached your weekly cap on a rarity, your correct answer can turn into a gift: the geocoin you just won is given to another player. You pick a criterion, the game designates the recipient, and you are rewarded.

When can I become a patron?

Four conditions must be met: the weekly cap for that rarity reached, a rare, epic or legendary geocoin (never a shiny), your weekly giving allowance not yet used up, and a geocoin still available in the round.

Otherwise your correct answer remains a glory win.

Geocoins from the latest expansion cannot be gifted in these rarities: legendary.

How is the recipient chosen?

You pick a criterion — a newcomer, a veteran, a fast player, a loyal one, a small or a large collection. The game then looks, among active players seen recently who already have a real collection, for someone who doesn’t own that geocoin, gradually widening the search (the last 24 hours, then the week, then the fortnight).

The recipient is drawn at random among the three best profiles of the tier retained, and anyone who has just received a gift is excluded: you cannot single out a friend.

What does patronage earn me?

  • Forge points depending on the rarity given: 1 for a rare, 5 for an epic, 100 for a legendary. Giving a common earns none. These points escape the daily consolation cap.
  • Points on the daily leaderboard, through the evolving “Patron” achievement, whose counter is weighted by the rarity given: 1 for a common, 2 for a rare, 7 for an epic, 20 for a legendary.
  • One more glory win, with the gold and consolation forge points that come with it.
  • A coloured halo around your name in winner lists, once your weekly giving allowance is used up.

Do not mix this scale up with the melting one, which is a different thing entirely: 1 for a common, 3 for a rare, 10 for an epic, 100 for a legendary.

How many gifts can I make per week?

1 for a rare, 1 for an epic, 1 for a legendary. The counter resets on Monday, along with the earning caps.

Does a gift consume one of the round’s geocoins?

Yes, and that’s the difference with glory. The geocoin given is one of those in play: it goes to the recipient instead of staying contested. The game therefore never hands out more than the announced number.

Can I give away a duplicate from my collection?

Yes, straight from your collection, outside any round. A common: 1 per day. A rare, epic or legendary: only if your weekly earning cap for that rarity is reached and you still have giving allowance left.

Shinies and achievement geocoins cannot be given. Geocoins from the latest expansion cannot be gifted in these rarities: legendary. This gift earns the same forge points as a round gift: 1 for a rare, 5 for an epic, 100 for a legendary, and nothing for a common.

🔨 Forge points

What are all the ways to earn forge points?

  • Melting your duplicates — the main source, and the only one with no cap at all: 1 for a common, 3 for a rare, 10 for an epic, 100 for a legendary.
  • Glory wins: 1 for a common, 2 for a rare, 3 for an epic, 10 for a legendary.
  • The holding vault: the same scale as glory — 1 for a common, 2 for a rare, 3 for an epic, 10 for a legendary — when you decline a hold, when the vault is full, or when a geocoin leaves it through a replacement.
  • Quests, daily and weekly.
  • Patronage: 1 for a rare, 5 for an epic, 100 for a legendary — a common earns none.
  • The monthly leaderboard, whose end-of-month prizes include forge points.
  • Support packs, which grant some when opened.

Is there a daily cap on forge points?

Yes, 120 points — but it only covers consolation points, i.e. glory and the vault. Melting, quests and patronage are not subject to it and keep paying out once that cap is reached.

Does Training mode give forge points?

None at all: no consolation, no quests, no holding vault. Training pays in common geocoins and a little gold.

⚒️ The forge

What are forge points for?

  • Making a geocoin shiny: 60 for a common, 180 for a rare, 600 for an epic, 1,800 for a legendary points.
  • Forging an exclusive geocoin: 60 for a common, 180 for a rare, 600 for an epic, 1,800 for a legendary points.
  • Buying on the off-season market, alongside gold.
  • Expanding your shiny bag: 200, then 500, then 1,000 points.

What is a forgeable geocoin?

A geocoin obtained only through the forge: it never appears in the quiz and cannot be sold on the market. It can be forged once — forging one you already own is refused.

What are forge sales?

A temporary discount, announced by a banner and its countdown. It can apply to shininess, to forgeable geocoins, or both, with a percentage of its own per rarity. The price charged is always the one shown at the moment you click.

✨ Shinies

What is a shiny geocoin?

The sparkling version of an ordinary geocoin. It is a separate item in your collection: you can own both, and the shiny is worth more — 2 for a common, 6 for a rare, 14 for an epic, 40 for a legendary points against 1 for a common, 3 for a rare, 7 for an epic, 20 for a legendary for the normal version.

How do I get a shiny?

Two ways:

  • In the quiz: about 10 % of rounds put the shiny version in play. Special days, announced in game, raise that rate.
  • At the forge: 60 for a common, 180 for a rare, 600 for an epic, 1,800 for a legendary points. You must already own the normal version, and a geocoin can only be made shiny once.

Do shinies have their own limits?

Yes: 3 per day, extendable with the shiny bag. Careful though — a shiny also consumes one of your geocoins for the day; it isn’t a bonus on top.

On the other hand it is never blocked by the weekly cap of its rarity: you win it even at the cap, while still advancing the counter.

What can I do with a shiny?

Collect it, and melt its duplicates (2 for a common, 6 for a rare, 20 for an epic, 200 for a legendary forge points). A shiny can neither be sold on the market nor given through patronage.

Can I make an achievement geocoin shiny?

Only at the final tier: an evolving achievement must have reached its legendary variant before it can go to the shiny forge.

♻️ Melting

How does melting work?

Melting a duplicate destroys it and returns forge points: 1 for a common, 3 for a rare, 10 for an epic, 100 for a legendary. For a shiny duplicate: 2 for a common, 6 for a rare, 20 for an epic, 200 for a legendary.

There is no daily limit — it is the best use for a crowded collection.

Could I lose a geocoin from my collection?

No. Melting only touches copies beyond the first: the game always keeps one of each geocoin. Even the “melt all” button simply brings every stack back down to a single copy.

Should I melt or sell?

Melting pays forge points, with no limit and no fee. Selling pays gold, but costs 4 coins to list, 12 % tax on the sale, and you still need a buyer.

In practice: melt commons, sell what other players value.

🛒 The market

What can I put up for sale?

Your duplicates only: your collection is never touched. Shinies, forgeable geocoins, achievement geocoins and anything flagged as not sellable are excluded.

What does selling cost?

4 gold coins to list — not refunded if the listing finds no buyer — and 12 % tax on the sale price. The rest is credited to you as soon as it sells.

How many listings can I have?

40 active listings in total, refined by a cap of its own per rarity: 10 for a rare, 2 for an epic, 1 for a legendary. Withdraw a listing to publish another.

How are prices bounded?

Sellers set their own price, between two bounds computed per rarity:

  • a floor: 20 for a common, 150 for a rare, 750 for an epic, 3,000 for a legendary gold coins;
  • a ceiling recomputed continuously from the median of the last seven days’ sales, multiplied by a coefficient that grows with rarity.

That ceiling never drops below the best offer already listed nor below the geocoin’s minimum price: a valid price always exists.

How many geocoins can I buy?

Duplicates — geocoins you already own — are unlimited. However you may only buy 2 geocoins you don’t own per week, resetting on Monday: the market completes a collection, it doesn’t build one.

What happens to an unsold listing?

It is returned to you automatically after a few days, and the duplicate goes back into your collection. You can also withdraw it yourself at any time. The listing fee, however, is not refunded.

What is the off-season market?

A shop run by the game, offering geocoins from finished seasons — and from cyclical seasons outside their yearly window. You pay in gold and forge points: 500 gold + 50 FP for a common, 1,000 gold + 100 FP for a rare, 5,000 gold + 500 FP for an epic, 20,000 gold + 1,800 FP for a legendary.

It is the second chance for geocoins you missed when they were out.

🔥 Streaks

What does being “on fire” mean?

Stringing rounds together while being among the first correct answers. From 3 rounds in a row, a flame appears next to your name.

In exchange, a slight delay applies to you at the start of the following rounds — 4 seconds at most — to give the others a chance. It only exists from two connected players onwards.

When does that delay not apply?

Never on a legendary, never on a shiny epic, and never on a geocoin you don’t own yet. On the rounds that really matter, the race stays fair.

What breaks my streak?

Answering correctly but outside the leading places of the round — there are as many places as there are geocoins in play — or not answering at all. Glory wins and holds occupy those places: a player faster than you takes the spot, even if they were playing for glory.

The game then tells you who was faster.

What about the loyalty streak?

That’s the second streak tracked: the number of consecutive days on which you won at least one geocoin. Your record is kept even when the streak ends, and is shown on the “Loyal” geocoin.

🎁 Treasure, quests and seasons

How does the daily treasure work?

One geocoin given away every day, the same one for everybody, along with 5 gold coins. One claim per day, and it consumes none of your limits.

How do quests work?

Three daily quests and three weekly ones, drawn at random: winning rounds, selling, melting, logging in, giving… They pay gold and forge points, outside the consolation cap.

If one doesn’t suit you, you can swap one per day and one per week. Daily quests renew at midnight, weekly ones on Monday.

What are seasons for?

Some geocoins are only put in play during their season — a season label on the card says so. A season can be one-off or come back every year. Outside their window, those geocoins remain available on the off-season market.

🎓 Training mode

How is Training mode different?

  • Rounds last 1 minute and everyone can win: no race, every correct answer counts.
  • Only base-game common geocoins are in play — never one from an extension, never a shiny.
  • The five fastest players receive a little gold.
  • No forge points, and no holding vault.
  • The correct answer is revealed at the end of every round.

Your geocoin limits apply normally there: it is the same quota.

Can I play both modes at once?

Not quite: winning a geocoin on one side briefly pauses you on the other. It’s the same collection — you can’t fill it twice as fast by opening two tabs.

🎖️ Achievements

What is an achievement?

A goal rewarded with a geocoin, filed in your collection under the “Achievements” type. There is one for almost everything: your wins, your glory wins, your streaks, your loyalty, your purchases, your sales, your melts, your patron gifts, your quests, your shinies, the size of your collection, your referrals, your ranking…

They unlock on their own as you play: a window announces it and the geocoin joins your collection. Nothing to claim.

Why does my achievement geocoin change rarity?

Because most of them are evolving. You get the geocoin as a common on your very first action, then the SAME geocoin turns rare, epic and finally legendary as you cross its tiers.

So it is not four geocoins but one, growing in value: its current rarity sets what it is worth to your score, like any other. The previous variant disappears at the same moment — replaced, not lost.

What happens once I reach the legendary tier?

On many achievements, legendary is repeatable: each new crossing of the threshold shows “Legendary ×2”, “×3”… and is worth the points of one more legendary geocoin. No card is granted twice — this is the only part of your score that does not come from a geocoin you own.

For ranking achievements, a repeat is one more period finished at the threshold level: a week, a month. The multiplier is capped, and the game shows yours alongside the next one.

Does an achievement geocoin count like the others?

In your geocoin total, in your score and on the Collection leaderboard: yes, exactly like the others, according to its current rarity.

Three differences: it cannot be gifted through patronage, it only goes to the shiny forge once it has reached its legendary variant, and it does not count towards the pool of the completion achievements below, which only measure ordinary published geocoins.

What are the completion achievements?

“Collector” and “Dazzling” measure the share of the pool you own, and their tiers are proportions: the first geocoin, half of them, four fifths, then all of them.

The pool only counts the published geocoins of the expansion concerned, achievement geocoins excluded: it grows with every release, so your percentage can go down without you losing anything — a tier you have earned is yours for good. Every expansion has its own series, released along with it.

Can an achievement appear or change along the way?

Yes. New achievements are released regularly — the game tells you — and their thresholds can be readjusted.

Either way it is retroactive: what you have already played is counted again and the tiers you already deserve are granted, with nothing to replay. And a tier you have earned never goes back down, even if the rule tightens later.

Where do I follow my progress?

In your collection, under the “Achievements” filter: each series sits there as a single geocoin, at the rarity you have reached. Open it to see the progress bar and the rarity tiers — and, depending on the achievement, your best ranking, your current streak and your record, your collection calendar or your referral panel.

The “Counts towards the leaderboard” label marks the ones where every step of progress scores a point on the daily leaderboard.

🏆 Score and ranking

How is my score calculated?

It is the sum of the points of every distinct geocoin you own: 1 for a common, 3 for a rare, 7 for an epic, 20 for a legendary. A shiny counts separately and is worth more: 2 for a common, 6 for a rare, 14 for an epic, 40 for a legendary.

Duplicates are worth nothing — which is exactly why you should melt or sell them.

What is the score used for?

It determines your rank, from the humblest to the most prestigious, and your place in the overall ranking. Crossing a rank threshold also unlocks an achievement.

🗓️ The monthly leaderboard

How does the monthly leaderboard work?

It is played as a cascade, on three levels. What you play during the day fills the daily leaderboard. Every night at midnight, Paris time, the day is frozen and your rank there turns into points on the weekly leaderboard. Every Monday at midnight, the week is frozen in turn and your rank there turns into points on the monthly leaderboard. When the month closes, the best ranked players receive their prize.

Nothing is ever erased: the counter starts from zero because a new period begins, and past periods stay readable in the archives.

What scores points?

The progress of your achievements, and nothing else: this leaderboard measures what you play, not what you own. One point per unit of progress — a quiz win is worth one point, a loyalty day too, whatever the rarity at stake.

Counted are the achievements for wins, glory, streaks, loyalty, quests and patronage. Patronage is the one exception to rarity being ignored: its counter is weighted, so a gift scores 1 for a common, 2 for a rare, 7 for an epic, 20 for a legendary.

Buying, selling, melting or growing your collection scores nothing here: that is the business of the Collection leaderboard, the one built on your score.

Why do I score nothing from Monday to Wednesday?

Because the leaderboard week runs from Thursday to Sunday. From Monday to Wednesday the game plays as usual and your achievements progress, but nothing feeds the leaderboard: those are rest days. The screen then shows the results of the week just ended, podium included.

What does my rank earn me?

The scale tapers off: first place on a day is worth 100 points on the week, first place on a week 100 points on the month, and every place below earns a little less. Every ranked player scores points, however far down the table they are.

One caveat: you need at least 20 points in the week for your weekly rank to earn anything. The full scale is shown in the game, on the “To win” button of each period.

What if two players are tied?

They are tied: same place, and above all the same reward. Two players in first place each get the whole of first place — the rank points, the end-of-month prize, the achievement. Nothing separates them, neither the time nor the order they got there.

The next place is then skipped: after two firsts comes a third, there is no second. In the list, a shared place carries an “=” sign before its number.

What do you win at the end of the month?

The top 10 of the month are rewarded automatically at closing time: 1,000 gold + 200 FP + a pack for rank 1; 500 gold + 100 FP + a pack for ranks 2–3; 250 gold + 50 FP for ranks 4–10. Gold and forge points are credited right away; a pack lands unopened in your Treasures.

You need at least 100 points in the month to be rewarded, whatever your rank: a thin month does not hand a prize to a podium that barely played.

Are there achievements tied to the leaderboard?

Three, one per level: Winner of the Day, Master of the Week and Master of the Month. They keep your best rank reached, and it stays even if you do worse afterwards.

These three score no leaderboard points themselves: their criterion is the leaderboard.

Where do I see all this?

In the Monthly tab of the leaderboard. The “My cascade” card at the top shows your three levels at all times: the month, the week, and the days of the week. A tap on a row opens the leaderboard for that period; the screen itself opens on whatever is being played — the current day while the week is running, the week just gone on rest days. The “To win” button shows the scale, and the month pill opens the archives.

The Collection tab is the other leaderboard: the one built on your score, which never resets.

🤗 Referrals and geocaching profile

How do referrals work?

Share your personal link. It only works with new players: an account that already has a collection can no longer be attached as a referral.

A referral counts towards your reward once they reach 80 distinct geocoins; 1 of them unlock the achievement.

How do I get my geocaching.com profile verified?

Paste your referral link into the “About” section of your geocaching.com profile, then start the check from the game. Your username must be identical on both sides.

You then get your profile picture back plus a verification badge — and your username is locked from then on.

💳 Support packs

What is a pack and what’s inside?

A bundle of geocoins, gold and forge points, sold to fund the game. Every pack states its contents before purchase and carries a no-duplicate guarantee: depending on the pack, one of the announced geocoins will be missing from your collection, or the shiny will be new to you.

That guarantee obviously cannot apply if you already own everything the rarity concerned can offer.

I paid — where are my geocoins?

Paying does not credit geocoins directly: your packs arrive unopened in your warehouse. Opening them, whenever you choose, is what draws the contents and credits them.

If a paid pack hasn’t appeared in the warehouse after a few minutes, write to us at contact@geocoins.io with the date and the amount.

Do packs contain geocoins I couldn’t get otherwise?

No. The draw uses the same geocoins as the game, achievements and forgeable geocoins excluded. A pack saves time, it doesn’t unlock reserved content.

📬 Contact us

How do I reach you by email?

At contact@geocoins.io. That’s the right address for anything to do with your account or a payment: pack not credited, double charge, refund, cannot log in, account deleted by mistake.

Include your username, and for a payment the date and amount.

Is there a Discord?

Yes, and it is the best place to ask a question, report a bug, suggest an idea or simply chat with other players. The link is also in your avatar menu, at the top of the screen.

Join the Discord — a French-speaking server exists as well.

How do I report a bug or suggest an idea?

On Discord, preferably: that’s where feedback is read fastest and discussed with other players. For a wrong quiz question, use the report button shown on the question itself instead.

⚙️ My account

Can I change my username?

Yes, once every 30 days. A verified geocaching.com profile, however, locks the username permanently: it must stay identical to your geocaching.com one for the verification to remain valid.

How do I delete my account?

From My account → Delete my account. The action is irreversible: your collection and progress are lost, and your username becomes available to someone else again.
