The Das PETling-Zimmer geocache (GC50CRA) takes up a whole room, where more than a thousand petlings hang from the ceiling. The petling is the favourite container of German geocaching: a PET bottle preform, that transparent tube some ten centimetres long, perfectly watertight, which industry normally blows into a two-litre bottle. Here there are thousands of them, and only one holds the logbook.
The set is signed PETling-Mafia, a collective of some fifteen geocachers who keep up a gangster-film staging with announcements signed "Don der Pate".
Three stages lead to the entrance of the room, where you take your shoes off before going in, and clues point out the right tube among the crowd. Geocaching HQ made it its geocache of the week in June 2024, before keeping it in its selection of the year.
Fancy a warm-up for the real quiz? Here is a question:
What must you take off before entering the room of a thousand petlings?
The answer : shoes
More than a thousand tubes hang from the ceiling, and only one holds the logbook. The set is the work of PETling-Mafia, a collective keeping up a gangster-film staging.
