Kluis tot kookhuis

The van “Kluis tot Kookhuis” geocache (GC2JV5X) is the most favorited geocache in the Netherlands, with more than 7,500 favorite points for close to 16,000 finds. It was hidden by Rebel & the Bandits on the Markt in Maastricht, at number 16. It was named geocache of the week in March 2017.

The building has been everything: a butcher's shop from 1899, a café-restaurant named Stadhoes in 1965 — one of the haunts of town councillors and local journalists — a rehearsal room, a soap merchant, a glassware shop, a wartime shelter, the mayor's residence, then a bank. Today it sells kitchenware, hence the title: “from the vault to the kitchen”.

And it is precisely in the most important place in any bank that you have to look. A practical detail from the owners: do not expect any GPS reading inside, the concrete and steel let nothing through. I will say no more — go in with your eyes closed, you will come out speechless.
