The RR GeoArt geocache (GC3FA3B) is one link in a series of a thousand caches laid out in Idaho by the League of Idaho Cachers from March 2012 onwards.
Taken on its own, it is a micro out in the countryside. Seen from the map, it is one dot in a drawing: the layout of the thousand caches traces The General, the 4-4-0 steam locomotive that became an emblem of American railroading, recognisable by its flared smokestack, its large driving wheels and its cowcatcher. Every listing in the series sheds light on an aspect of US railway history, from the beginnings to the 2000s.
It is one of the oldest geoarts on this scale, a format in which the pattern of the hides themselves becomes the artwork to discover.
