The Lowest on Earth geocache (GC8914B) is a virtual cache placed by Cache&Cookies on the shore of the Dead Sea, in Israel, 420 metres below sea level. Its owner presents it as the lowest in the game, and it guarantees the diamond “head in the ground” badge on BadgeGen, which not every Dead Sea cache does.
Watching your GPS show ever more negative figures until it reaches −420 metres is a thrill of its own. Between lunar landscapes and harsh geology, the trip calls for the greatest caution around the sinkholes. Rounding off the expedition with a weightless float in these salt-saturated waters is the ultimate reward for an out-of-the-ordinary quest.
