☀️ LE LIVRE D’HÉLIOS ☀️

The ☀️ LE LIVRE D’HÉLIOS ☀️ geocache (GC7V294) has been in place since 21 August 2018 in a bookshop of the Latin Quarter, on the Paris left bank, a district that has been printing, publishing and selling books since 1470. Its owner, Tristaaaaan, wanted to offer a kind of cache different from the micros that fill the capital. He went round several bookshops before finding the right one: the staff agreed at once, asking for the book there and then.

It all started with a golden belt buckle in the shape of a sun, which Tristaaaaan already owned. Around it he built a real book painted in gold, placed under the patronage of Helios, the Greek god of the sun; the first copy has since given way to a 3D-printed version. The booksellers, for their part, have learned to recognise geocachers by the way they rummage through the shelves: they play along in silence and sometimes slip a hint to those who circle for too long. Visitors readily compare the experience to a manuscript hunt, and the cache collects favourite points.

The ☀️ LE LIVRE D’HÉLIOS ☀️ geocoin came out on 28 August 2026 with the "Reviewer" extension. Five days later, on 2 September 2026, Geocaching HQ made the geocache its geocache of the week. To mark the occasion, the geocoin, rare when it was released, moved up to epic: this is the first time a geocoin in the game has changed rarity for that reason. A way of marking the moment and of rewarding Tristaaaaan, a geocoins.io player since the very first hours.
