The Echoes Beyond the Gate geocache (GCAWZTF) is hidden in a stone wall pierced by a perfect circle, at the far end of the Secret Garden of the West Virginia Botanic Garden. This moon gate - a round opening in a wall, a motif inherited from Chinese gardens - is no ruin: John and Edie Jett, regulars of the garden, gave it for their fiftieth wedding anniversary in the summer of 2023.
WVangler placed his cache there in August 2024, a few months before GeoWoodstock XXI gathered thousands of players, in May 2025. The mechanism lives up to the setting: one stone of the arch slides on rails and reveals the cavity where a bison tube sits.
The garden itself is the only botanical garden in West Virginia. Echoes Beyond the Gate became geocache of the week there in December 2025.
