The Bridge Boutique geocache (GCXCEX) does not hide: it is a brightly painted shack, planted at the foot of the bridge leading to Algonquin Island, on the Toronto Islands. You get there on the Ward's Island ferry, in a car-free village where a few hundred inhabitants live all year round in cottages. Inside are books, clothes and souvenirs by the hundred: everything is there to be swapped, as long as you leave at least as much as you take.
The idea came from the neighbourhood. The islanders had long been hanging the things they wanted to sell or trade on an electricity pole, an informal open-air shop. The geocacher Adventure.AS gave it a roof in 2006, in a matter of days.
The paper logbook vanished long ago, carried off by walkers who took it for a swap item: these days you sign the inside of the doors, which a coat of paint frees up from time to time. The boutique, though, is still standing, and Geocaching HQ made it its geocache of the week in May 2025.
