The Kippers in the Jungle geocache (GC6A) holds a prestigious record: it is the very first geocache placed in Denmark. Hidden on 30 September 2000 in the suburbs of Copenhagen, it is highly prized by geocachers worldwide who are trying to complete their “Jasmer” grid, a challenge that consists of finding caches hidden in every month since the game began in May 2000.
If you are tempted by the pilgrimage, take the opportunity to head a little further north and log, in the same trip, the second oldest cache in the country: High Tension in the Bog (GC103). As an aside, its creators had placed a tin of kippers (smoked herring) in the original container as a tribute to Kippers in the Jungle.
