Rundtosset nøglestafet

The Rundtosset nøglestafet geocache (GC56N5D) is a nest box hanging in a wood in western Denmark, and that is about the only thing it has in common with an ordinary nest box. Its Danish name means something like "the dizzy key relay": the coordinates lead straight to the box, but getting there is only the beginning.

Open the front and you find four cylindrical compartments pierced with small holes and filled with golf balls and film canisters. Behind the door, the owner friisnielsen73 has left a few wooden skewers: that is the entire toolkit. Two of the canisters have to be worked down, each holding a key, and those keys open the padlocks that close the bottom of the box. The logbook waits behind them. A whole obstacle course fits inside a birdhouse.

Placed in June 2014, it has since gathered a number of favourite points that is unusual for a Danish gadget cache. Geocaching HQ named it geocache of the week in June 2023, nine years almost to the day after it was placed, before including it in its selection of the eight geocaches of the year.
